Students choose module when enrolling. Selection of the module determines two compulsory module courses and the general field of the master´s thesis as well as the student´s practical work. Students can choose other module courses as elective courses.

Biostatistics

In medicine, there is no theory without examination in practice. Statistics is crucial part of all medical research from research design to interpretation of results, the most useful tool for scientific research in the fields of biology and biotechnology. Proper experimental design and analysis interconnect profession and statistics. One of the hot topics is genetics. The major data user is pharmacy.

Social Science Statistics

Statistics is applied to all fields of social research. It enables market research, public opinion surveys and election polls to go far beyond speculations. It also includes network analysis and examining social phenomena.

Economic and Business statistics

Statistics is essential in service (e.g. insurance, wholesale) and manufacturing sector. It is used on strategic as well as functional level (e.g. marketing, retail, finance). It represents analytical foundation for economic policy planning on macro level.

Mathematical statistics

Applied statistics is a combination of knowledge of mathematics, theoretical bases of statistics, programming ability and the capability to communicate with experts in the fields of application. Math module provides more in-depth approach to the methodological basis of statistics, which is beneficial to both the development of new approaches as well as to the reliable and appropriate use of existing methods.

Machine Learning

Machine learning combines statistics and computing, a well-grounded methodology, and effective engineering approaches for forecasting, grouping, and other tasks of modern data analysis.

Institutions that offer official statistics data (e.g.. Statistical Office of Republic of Slovenia, Bank of Slovenia, Agency for Public Legal Records and Related Services, Institute of Public Health) strongly rely on statisticians. The same applies for institutional data users(e.g. ministries, chambers and associations, research institutes).
